Children are more susceptible to exposure of
environmental toxins because they consume more food and water
and have higher inhalation rates per pound of body weight than
adults. Recent research by the U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) indicates that inhalation is a significant route
of exposure to chemicals that are associated with endocrine disorders,
reproductive and developmental toxicity, asthma, and allergies.
Due to these factors, the GEI has established strict controls
to define low-emitting materials specifically for educational
and learning/play environments for young children.
“PolyVision is extremely pleased to be the first and
only manufacturer in the industry to become GREENGUARD Children
and Schools Certified,” said Mike Dunn, President and
CEO of PolyVision. “In this day and age we understand
so much more about all the characteristics that go into leading
a healthy lifestyle. It’s no longer just an added bonus
to incorporate healthy products into environments where children
spend 8 - 12 hours of their day – it’s a necessity.
Given a choice, why wouldn’t facilities choose products
that are best for the health of kids?”
